Are your tenants safe?
Did you know that in most states an owner landlord is required to install an electrical safety switch using a licensed electrician or face possible fines and imprisonment?
Owner landlords have a duty of care regarding tenants’ safety. Installing a simple electrical safety switch and regular testing of it could save your property, your occupants and protect you from possible prosecution.
What is required by law?
- Leased domestic residences are required by law to at least have safety switches or a RCD installed for all power points and if the dwelling was built after 1992 for the lighting circuits as well.
- Installed safety switches must be in working order as suggested by the QLD Department of Justice and Attorney General.
